About the Temple

This divine 30-year-old temple was constructed in the year 1984 on Oct 19th, on land donated by a generous group of 15 people (Drs. S.P Reddy, B.K Mohan, and friends)

Each of them gathered for a meeting in the Nashville temple and made a remarkable move to proceed with the temple construction project in Atlanta.

A resource of $10000 was contributed by each of them, to accommodate a place of worship and happy gathering for the Hindu Community and their children.

Finally, the land was procured from Mrs. Jewel P. Quinn, then further fund was raised, and with the timely assistance of Sri Sampath Kumar Bhattar & architect Padmasri, Muthiah Stapathi temple construction began.

The temple beholds an elegant Dravidian type of architecture: a centrally located gopuram, a temple shaped like a stepped pyramid called Vimana in Tamilnadu

The Crown of the temple is called shikara, the temple has 5 dwaras(corridors) leading to garbhagriha (the main deity spot)

Often in such temples (Dravidian style architecture), a sacred water pond called “Kalyani” is found on temple premises.
