About the Temple

500 years ago in India, “Kalachandji” meaning “the beautiful moon-faced one” was worshipped by 1000s of devotees.

An impeccable crew of artisans constructed a temple for him, with drums, cymbals, and tambouras.

The temple was filled with melodious prayers, bhog made from fruits and grain, kirtans, and songs to honor” Kalachandji”, everyone poured immense love into him.

The rituals continued till the Moguls invaded India, to protect Kalachandji, locals hid him, thus putting an end to his prayers and pooja seva in the temple.

While, the locals had a strong belief that “Kalachandj’s” pooja seva would be restored back on earth very soon.

Centuries later,

A great devotee of Lord Krishna and founder of ISKCON his grace A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, arranged to have Kalachandji in the USA.

The land was procured for the establishment of this temple that now stands as the epitome of Krishna’s Love for devotees.

His Holiness instructed two ladies to procure a statue of Kalachandji from Jaipur India, and likewise, the ladies found a 500-year-old murti of Kalachandji in an old museum.

It was brought to the current temple in Dallas and the temple was inaugurated by Srila Prabhupada himself in the year 1972.
