History of the Temple

To preserve Hindu Culture and Enrich Indian Philosophy Hindu Society of Victoria (HSV) was started in 1982.

A land of over 15 acres was procured at Carrum Downs, Victoria, and Sri Shiva Vishnu Temple construction was completed in 1994.

The temple is now regarded as the largest Hindu temple in the Southern Hemisphere, attracting devotees of 15000 in number.

The temple is constructed as per traditional South Indian architecture with a pearl white coloured gopuram.

Deities In the Temple

The temple’s main deity is lord Vishnu, the preserver, and protector of the Universe.

Vishnu is known to return to earth in various forms like Narayana, Krishna, Rama, Narasimha, and more in troubled times to restore goodness over evil.

The temple also allocates numerous Gods and Goddesses like Devi Amman, shiva, Ganesha, hanuman Ji, and so on.

Festivals and Events:

  • Most of the important festivals of the Hindu community like Krishna Janmashtami, Ganesha Chaturthi, Kartika Purnima, Rama Navami, and Maha Shivratri are frequently celebrated.
  • Vishnu Brahmotsava, Ekadashi, Rudra Homam, and Utsavam like Simha and garuda vahana utsava, Sri Vishnu thirukalyanam acharya upacharam, and many more are often conducted in the temple.

  • Museum: Related to Indian Mythology and Tradition
  • Library: books related to Hinduism, Tamil, and Sanskrit languages on Fridays- 7 pm-8.30 pm
  • Yoga classes in association with Vasudeva kriya yoga centre under the guidance of Shri Rajendra Yenkannamoole every week on Saturdays from 11 am-12.30 pm
  • Special Pooja Archana and abhishekam for devotees to serve the lord is undertaken starting prices at $5 up to $501
