About the Temple

The Idea of this temple was created in the year 1981 by a small group of devotees and one fine event of Sri Sathyanarayana Pooja took place in 1982.

The plan for the temple was laid in 1983, and a group of trustees began hunting for the temple site in 1984.

A land of 8 acres in parkers county was purchased, but the process was slow due to lack of funds.

However, a location in Plano was rented in March 1987, for devotees to pray momentarily.

Parkers County being far from convenience, the already purchased 8-acre land was sold, and a new plot in Irving was purchased in June 1988.

Bhoomi puja of the new site was organized in July 1988, and three years from then the new temple, Ekta Mandir was inaugurated on 28th April 1991.

Extra land of 2.8 acres was purchased, along with a residential building to serve the needy as free medical clinic operations.

The expansion of the main temple proceeded and was completed in 2004.

The First Deity installed was Maha Lakshmi (the supreme Goddess of Wealth and Prosperity).
