Sri Shirdi Sai Baba Temple in Phoenix was inaugurated & idol of Sai Baba was installed on Mar 19, 2011. The instruction to start the temple for Shirdi Sai Baba in the state of Arizona was initiated under the guidance of Sai Baba through one of his disciple Sri Saipaadha Meiyadimmai.
Under the guidance of Sri Saipaadha Meiyadimmai 5 families started Sai arati on every Thursday evening. As more and more devotees came to know about this arati they have been joining the group and now it has become a much awaited weekly celebration for all the members.
With Sai’s mercy and grace, this group has crossed 50 and is counting. As it was getting difficult to accommodate all the members at the time of arati, the need for the place to have Sai Baba temple has increased.
With the guidance of Sri Saipaadha Meiyadimmai, one group set out to find a location for the temple to perform regular puja for Shirdi Sai Baba and also continue the Sai arati. On venturing into the process, the team also realized that the state of Arizona doesn’t have a Sai Baba Temple and there are Sai devotee groups who are performing Sai Arati and even a few ardent Sai devotees who regularly fly to LA to offer their prayers to Sai Baba (as there was no temple in Phoenix). The team feels blessed to have been given the opportunity to start a Sai temple in the state of Arizona benefiting all the Sai devotees.

About Shirdi Sai Baba
Sai Baba of Shirdi, also known as Shirdi Sai Baba, was an Indian spiritual Guru who is regarded by his devotees as a saint, a fakir, a satguru. He is revered by both his Hindu and Muslim devotees. The word ‘Sai’ refers to a religious mendicant & also mean ‘God’.
In 1910, Sai Baba’s fame began to spread in Mumbai. Numerous people started visiting him because they regarded him as a saint with the power of performing miracles or even as an avatar.
The Shirdi Sai Baba movement began in the 19th century, while he was living in Shirdi. A local Khandoba priest, Mhalsapati Nagre, is believed to have been his first devotee. In the 19th century, Sai Baba’s followers were only a small group of inhabitants of Shirdi and a few people from other parts of India.
On 15th October 1918, he breathed his last.
Because of Sai Baba, Shirdi has become a place of importance and is counted among the major Hindu places of pilgrimage. The first Sai Baba temple is situated at Kudal, Sindhudurg. This temple was built in 1922. It is believed that Sai Baba gave one Rupee to Dada Madye ji with which he built the temple in Kudal.
