The Government of Botswana allocated a stretch of land measuring over 7018 square meters in the year 2000 and the temple was constructed by Botswana Hindu Charities Trust (BHCT). The temple successfully completed and officially opened on 16th Sep 2007.

In the same temple premises, there are dedicated shrines to Lord Ayyappa, Muruga, Shiva, Vaishnodevi, Ganesh, Hanuman and Navagraha.

Architecture

BHCT Temple is built based on South Indian Architecture. Mr. Muthiah Sthapathi designed the temple plans and around 20 artisans came from India with Shri.Valasingham as Chief architect to build this temple. The original drawings of the Balaji Temple were altered to include other deities Viz., Ayyappa, Muruga, Siva, and Vaishnodevi. Embellishing the Temple, in the traditional architectural style found in the Temples in the southern parts of India, to reflect the beauty of this tradition which is prevalent for well over a millennium in the Temples in India. Now everyone in Botswana wonders about the marvelous architecture.
