About Murugan Temple – Melbourne

The temple is in sunshine in the western suburbs of Melbourne.

Initially, prayer was held in homes or small halls, Mani Selvendra started building the temple to fulfill the dreams of her father Mr. V Thambinayagam, a devotee of lord Murugan.

A trust was formulated in the year 1995, and the 1st stage of development was completed in January 1999, the foundation of the temple was laid in 2002, and the final construction was completed in 2006.

This is a well-built and organized temple in typical Indian traditional style architecture, the temple proceedings and rituals are managed by Melbourne Murukan Cultural Center

Deities in Murugan Temple – Melbourne

Lord Murugan is the main deity of the temple, regarded as a lord of victory and war commander of devas, also known by Subrahmanyam, Arumugam, Skanda, Kartikeya, and various names

It is a popular belief that if one worships lord Murugan, it will rain abundantly… there shall be no lack of basic needs of life like food water and shelter.

Along with Murugan, Valli, Devasena, Vinayagar, Shiva and Parvati, Navagraha, Hanuman, Vishnu, and Durga as also present on the temple premises

Daily Puja is done in the morning 9:00 AM and in the evening 7:00 PM.
