Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple situated at Komuravelli village is popularly known as Komuravelli Mallanna or Komrelly Mallanna.
The main deity of the temple is Lord Shiva in the form of Mallanna, along with his consorts Kethalamma (Golla Kethamma), Goddess Ganga, Medalamma, and Goddess Parvathi.
Story of Komuravelli Mallanna
The story of Mallanna is being explained in Oggu Katha for centuries. Mallanna married Medalamma (She is an incarnation of Goddess Bramarambhika), by facing conditions put up by her brothers.
Here is the simple brief about the story,
Mallanna wishes to wed Medallamma, but her brothers oppose it, insisting that she become a Bandari (the “Pasupu Kommulu” that are in Haseen and Hussain’s care in Macca Masjid).
Mallanna in search of a Bandari approaches Lord Shiva by doing a prayer. He was directed to Lord Ganesha by Lord Shiva. Mallanna visits Lord Ganesh and asks him about Bandari.
He is informed by Lord Ganesha that Mallanna’s sister “Yellamma” knows how to get it. Then, after visiting Yellamma’s house, Komuravelli Mallanna asks her about Bandari. It’s in Macca Masjid, according to Yellamma.
Mallanna is getting ready to head to Macca Masjid, but his sister “Yellamma” cautions him that because Macca is so far away and has a lot of power, it will be challenging to defeat them. And they kept these items in a location that is unknown to anyone, whoever went there never came back.
Lord Shiva gave him a flying horse after hearing this Mallanna ask the gods for help. Mallanna rides this horse to the Macca Masjid. He takes his horse out from the Macca before entering.
And joins Malku Malloji because he enjoys talking; perhaps he spends many days or perhaps years doing so. The Muslims trusted him, they have entire faith in him and revealed Bandari’s identity to him.
Mallanna travels to his location. He is guarded by a snake with five heads. One day he took Bandari and tried to escape. Despite being chased by Haseen and Hussain, Mallanna manages to flee to the banks of the Ganga while posing as a black dog.
Goddess Ganga loses her right hand after clashing with the duo (Haseen & Hussain). Mallanna puts a stick as a symbol of her hand and decides to observe a ritual every year in memory of the goddess Ganga.
Then he returns to his hometown Komuravelli with the help of a flying horse. He gives a part of Bandari to Yellamma and finally, he gets married to Medalamma.

In 2023 Komuravelli Mallanna Jatara begins on Sunday, 15th January, and Ends on Wednesday, 22nd March.
During the Shivaratri time, lakhs of devotees visit the temple and celebrate Pedda Patnam. Agni Gundalu is celebrated, on Sunday that is falling before Ugadi.

Devotees can offer prayer to Mallanna with the help of Oggu Pujaris. Pujaris draws a rangoli in the temple hall, the rangoli is called Patnam.
