Ekadashi is the 11th day in the Hindu calendar. Mohini Ekadashi is observed in the month of Vaisakha during Shukla paksha(waxing phase of the moon) Ekadashi. Ekadashi is also known as Hari Vasara as it is dedicated to lord Vishnu (Sri Hari).
On this day Hindu devotees observe fasting and end after sunrise of the next day. Breaking the fasting is called Parana.
It is believed that Ekadashi fasting helps in the ride of all the sins and past life misdeeds. According to Hindu mythology, Mohini is the attractive female avatar of Lord Vishnu.
In Mahabharata, it is mentioned as Lord Vishnu appears in the form of Mohini to acquire the pot of Amrita from demons (asuras) and gives it back to gods(devas).
