In Telugu, the calendar is called as Panchangam which refers to Panch(Five)+Angam(Limbs) in Sanskrit. The five attributes of Panchangam are Tithi, Varamu, Nakshatram, Yogamu, Karanamu.
- Tithi – A Lunar day
- Varamu – The Weekday
- Nakshatram – The Moon’s asterism (in which the moon resides sunrise)
- Yogamu – the angular relationship between Sun and Moon
- Karanamu – Divisions based on Tithis
Ugadi is the New Year’s Day for Telugu people. This is the most auspicious & important festival in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
